Toledo Police Chief Derrick Diggs spoke during a live press conference on Sept. 6, 2013, at approximately 10:30 a.m., and confirmed that a box was retrieved from
the garage of the home that contained human remains.
Elaina Steinfurth lived with her mother Angela, 25, who was living off and on with a boyfriend named Steven King at his mother's Julie King's house. Elaina was 18-months-old when she was reported missing on June 2, 2013. Her father, Terry Steinfurth was estranged from Angela, but arrived at the King residence on June 2, 2013, to pick up Elaina and her older sister.
Reports state that Angela refused to hand Elaina over, then after a period of approximately 20 minutes spent arguing with Terry (T.J.) Steinfurth, she went into the home to get Elaina. It was after returning into the home that Angela reportedly started screaming that someone had taken the baby.
Angela Steinfurth was arrested on June 12, 2013, for child endangerment. She faces obstruction of justice charges. On July 22, 2013, Steven King was arrested and also charged with obstruction of justice.
